The noose is tightening around Ichigo Kurosaki. His inner Hollow is steadily consuming him, a mysterious transfer student continues trying to recruit him into an unknown group, and now powerful new enemies have arrived in Karakura Town with orders to eliminate him.

As the first Arrancar begin their assault on the Human World, Ichigo and his friends find themselves facing opponents unlike any they have encountered before. Their arrival marks the opening battle in a new conflict orchestrated by Sōsuke Aizen.

As Ichigo struggles to suppress the Hollow growing within him, Shinji Hirako continues urging him to join the Visored, believing they alone can teach him to control his new power. At the same time, Isshin Kurosaki secretly resumes his duties as a Soul Reaper after sensing Aizen's influence drawing closer to the Human World.

The threat quickly materializes with the arrival of two Arrancar sent directly by Aizen: Yammy Llargo and Ulquiorra Cifer. Their overwhelming spiritual pressure devastates Karakura Town as they evaluate Ichigo's strength. Despite fighting alongside Yasutora Sado, Orihime Inoue, and Uryū Ishida, Ichigo is outmatched, particularly after his inner Hollow interferes with his resolve.

The battle ends only after Kisuke Urahara intervenes, allowing the Arrancar to withdraw after completing their reconnaissance. Although the immediate danger passes, Aizen's forces have demonstrated a level of power far beyond anything Ichigo has previously faced, setting the stage for the war against the Arrancar.
