With Tōshirō Hitsugaya transformed into her personal zombie, Giselle Gewelle continues her attack against the remaining Soul Reapers. Mayuri Kurotsuchi must find a way to counter Giselle’s control without destroying the captains and lieutenants she has enslaved.

Meanwhile, Yhwach and his strongest warriors arrive at the Soul King Palace. Squad Zero stands ready to defend the realm, beginning a battle between the Royal Guard and the Wandenreich’s elite soldiers.

The zombified Hitsugaya swiftly defeats Ikkaku Madarame, Yumichika Ayasegawa, and Charlotte Chuhlhourne before turning on Mayuri. However, Mayuri has secretly drugged Hitsugaya, trapping him in a repeating sequence of imagined victories until his body becomes vulnerable. He then uses modified blood to seize control of Hitsugaya, Rangiku Matsumoto, Kensei Muguruma, and Rōjūrō Otoribashi from Giselle.

Elsewhere, PePe Waccabrada uses The Love to enslave Shūhei Hisagi and Meninas McAllon, turning them against their allies. Mayuri sends the zombified Kensei to defeat PePe, who is subsequently killed by Liltotto Lamperd for manipulating her companion.

At the Soul King Palace, Nianzol Weizol protects Yhwach by bending away every attack directed toward him, but Senjumaru Shutara alters his clothing and kills him from within. Yhwach then summons his Schutzstaffel—Gerard Valkyrie, Lille Barro, Pernida Parnkgjas, and Askin Nakk Le Vaar. Although Lille appears to destroy Senjumaru’s palace, Squad Zero reveals the battlefield as a decoy, allowing Ōetsu Nimaiya to begin cutting down the elite Quincies.
