Aizen completes another stage of his transformation and effortlessly defeats Isshin, Urahara, and Yoruichi. He and Gin then enter the Dangai on their way to the real Karakura Town, destroying the Kōtotsu that ordinarily governs passage through the dimension. After arriving behind them, Isshin recognizes that the resulting absence of the cleaner has created an opportunity: because time passes far more slowly inside the Dangai, Ichigo can undergo months of training before Aizen reaches his destination.

Ichigo enters his inner world to learn the Final Getsuga Tenshō from Tensa Zangetsu, the youthful manifestation of his Bankai. Rather than willingly teaching him, Tensa Zangetsu summons Ichigo’s inner Hollow and merges with it, forcing Ichigo to fight the combined embodiment of his powers while Isshin maintains the Dangai’s stability.

In Karakura Town, Aizen begins pursuing Ichigo’s spiritually aware friends, including Keigo Asano, Tatsuki Arisawa, and Mizuiro Kojima. Rangiku Matsumoto separately confronts Gin and demands an explanation for his actions, but Gin appears to strike her down before returning to Aizen.
