Mayuri Kurotsuchi completes his battle with Szayelaporro Granz, whose accelerated senses make every moment of his death seem to last for centuries. Mayuri rejects Szayelaporro’s claim of scientific perfection before searching his laboratory. Elsewhere, Kenpachi Zaraki continues fighting Nnoitra Gilga, whose released form grants him six arms and extraordinary resilience. Realizing that ordinary swordsmanship will not suffice, Kenpachi uses a two-handed strike to overcome Nnoitra’s defenses and ultimately kills him.

Before the rescuers can recover, Coyote Starrk abducts Orihime and returns her to Aizen. Aizen reveals that Orihime’s capture was intended to lure several Soul Reaper captains into Hueco Mundo, where he can seal them inside Las Noches. Leaving Ulquiorra Cifer behind to guard the fortress, Aizen departs with his principal forces to destroy Karakura Town and create the Ōken.

The invasion instead reaches a replica of Karakura Town constructed in the Soul Society, where the remaining captains and lieutenants await Aizen’s army. While the conflict shifts to the World of the Living, Ichigo Kurosaki races toward Orihime’s prison and prepares to confront Ulquiorra.
