Ichigo and Byakuya continue their decisive confrontation on Sōkyoku Hill. Byakuya releases Senbonzakura Kageyoshi, surrounding Ichigo with countless blades, but Ichigo responds by unveiling his Bankai, Tensa Zangetsu. Its compact form grants him extraordinary speed, allowing him to evade Byakuya’s attacks and place his sword against the captain’s throat.

Byakuya intensifies the battle through Senkei, concentrating his Bankai’s blades into an enclosed field of swords. As Ichigo’s body begins to fail under the pressure of his unfinished Bankai, Hollow Ichigo seizes control and attacks Byakuya with ruthless efficiency. Ichigo suppresses the inner presence before it can decide the fight, insisting upon winning through his own strength.

The opponents commit their remaining power to one final exchange. Ichigo breaks through Byakuya’s attack, and the wounded captain concedes after recognizing that Ichigo was challenging the laws Byakuya represented rather than merely fighting him personally. Elsewhere, Tōshirō Hitsugaya and Rangiku Matsumoto enter the Central 46 compound and discover evidence that the Soul Society’s recent orders have been part of a larger conspiracy.
