Riruka Dokugamine uses her Fullbring to place her consciousness inside Rukia’s body, but their confrontation leads her to reconsider Xcution’s treatment of Ichigo. Elsewhere, Shūkurō Tsukishima uses Book of the End to insert himself into the history of Byakuya Kuchiki and Senbonzakura. Although this knowledge allows him to anticipate Byakuya’s techniques, the captain improvises a dangerous attack and mortally wounds him.

Ginjō reveals that the Substitute Soul Reaper badge monitors Ichigo, restricts his power, and allows Soul Society to observe him. He argues that Jūshirō Ukitake deceived both Substitute Soul Reapers and urges Ichigo to join his rebellion. Ichigo explains that he had already recognized Ukitake’s suspicions but chose to trust Soul Society because its members respected his decisions and helped him protect those he valued. He then defeats Ginjō in their final clash.

Tsukishima attempts to attack Ichigo after Ginjō falls, but Riruka intervenes and protects him. As Xcution’s surviving members disperse, Ichigo visits Soul Society and requests permission from Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto to bury Ginjō in the World of the Living, affirming his intention to continue serving as a Substitute Soul Reaper.
