The Name of This Era Is "Whitebeard"

The Battle of Marineford reaches its decisive stage after Squardo's attack leaves Edward Newgate wounded. Whitebeard forgives his subordinate and exposes the Navy's manipulation, restoring the resolve of his allied crews. He then shatters the encircling walls and orders his forces into Oris Plaza, while Oars Jr. creates a path for the pirates' final advance.

Monkey D. Luffy continues toward the execution platform despite confronting the Admirals and exhausting his body. Supported by Whitebeard's commanders, the Impel Down escapees, and Emporio Ivankov's hormones, he unleashes Conqueror's Haki and reaches Portogas D. Ace. After Garp allows his emotions to overcome his duty, Luffy breaks through and Galdino frees Ace.

Ace and Luffy begin retreating with the Whitebeard Pirates, but Admiral Sakazuki provokes Ace by insulting Whitebeard. Ace turns back to confront him and is overpowered by the Admiral's magma. When Akainu attacks Luffy, Ace shields his brother and suffers a fatal wound.
