Sanji overhears Charlotte Pudding reveal that the wedding is a trap designed to massacre the Vinsmoke Family and place Germa 66 under Big Mom's control. Pudding also uses her memory-altering powers to conceal the scheme from Vinsmoke Reiju. Reiju later tells Sanji that their mother sacrificed her health attempting to prevent Judge from removing their children's emotions, confirming that Sanji's compassion represents her only success.

Elsewhere, Tony Tony Chopper and Carrot seize control of the Mirro-World, while Brook challenges Big Mom and succeeds in copying her Poneglyphs before being captured. Jinbe frees Luffy and Nami, allowing the scattered rescue team to regroup. Sanji then brings Luffy the meal originally prepared for Pudding and finally admits that he wants to return to the crew but cannot abandon his threatened family.

Luffy agrees to help disrupt the wedding and save the Vinsmokes. Because the group is heavily outnumbered, Jinbe proposes cooperating with Capone Bege, whose Fire Tank Pirates are secretly plotting to assassinate Big Mom. The two pirate crews meet and begin negotiating a temporary alliance.
