Declaration of War

From the Tower of Law, Monkey D. Luffy demands that Robin Nico tell the crew what she truly wants. Robin's memories return to her childhood on Ohara, an island of archaeologists secretly researching the forbidden Void Century. Shunned by other children and neglected by her relatives, she finds companionship in the stranded giant Jaguar D. Saul and is briefly reunited with her mother, Olvia Nico.

When the World Government discovers Ohara's research, CP9 director Spandine initiates a Buster Call. Government forces destroy the island, its scholars, and the evacuation ship carrying its civilians. Saul sacrifices himself while helping Robin escape, and Kuzan allows her to flee on the condition that she find companions and continue living. Branded a criminal at eight years old, Robin spends the following two decades surviving repeated betrayals.

In the present, Robin finally declares that she wants to live and asks the Straw Hats to take her back to sea. Luffy orders Sniper King to burn the World Government's flag, openly declaring war on the institution holding her captive. Franky destroys the Pluton blueprints, while the Straw Hats and their allies cross the courthouse gap and begin their assault on the Tower of Law.
