Personality
Personality
Olvia is scholarly, courageous and committed to historical truth. She accepts persecution and a life away from her daughter because she believes the Void Century must be investigated and preserved for future generations.
The separation causes deep guilt. When Robin approaches her in Ohara, Olvia initially denies being her mother, hoping emotional distance will encourage the child to flee instead of remaining with a condemned group.
Her resolve changes when Robin reveals that she can read the ancient script and begs to stay with her. Olvia embraces her and openly expresses the love that years of absence had left unspoken.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Olvia is a trained archaeologist and member of Ohara’s Poneglyph research expedition. Her expertise includes ancient history, field research and the investigation of the World Government’s prohibited subjects.
She survives the government’s destruction of her expedition and escapes Marine custody long enough to return to Ohara. This demonstrates resourcefulness and determination, though she is not established as a major combatant.
Olvia uses a rifle during her return to the island and attempts to confront CP9 director Spandine. Her weapon cannot overcome the government forces assembled for the Buster Call.
Story Role
Story Role
Six years before Ohara’s destruction, Olvia joins a team of archaeologists sailing in search of Poneglyphs. She leaves Robin with her brother’s family, believing the expedition’s work is too dangerous for a child.
The World Government captures the expedition and kills its other members. Olvia escapes with help from Jaguar D. Saul, then returns to warn Professor Clover and the scholars of the Tree of Knowledge.
The government launches a Buster Call after Clover begins revealing the conclusions of Ohara’s research. Olvia reunites with Robin but remains behind to protect the scholars’ work and help save books from the burning library. She dies during Ohara’s destruction.
Her research survives through Robin and through books that the scholars throw into the lake. Saul and giants from Elbaf later recover those texts, preventing Ohara’s accumulated knowledge from being completely erased.
Relationships
Relationships
Nico Robin is Olvia’s daughter and intellectual successor. Olvia regrets leaving her but is proud that Robin became an archaeologist and learned to read Poneglyphs at an exceptionally young age.
Professor Clover leads the Ohara scholars and shares Olvia’s commitment to uncovering the Void Century. She returns to him with proof that their expedition has been exposed.
Jaguar D. Saul helps Olvia escape captivity. He later reaches Ohara independently and becomes the person who enables Robin to survive the island’s destruction.
Spandine directs the government operation against Ohara and orders Olvia’s capture. Kuzan participates in the Buster Call but ultimately honors Saul’s final wish by allowing Robin to escape.
