Capriccio

With the other surviving combatants defeated, Enel takes Nami aboard the Ark Maxim and begins his plan to destroy Skypiea. Wiper reveals that the Shandians have fought for generations to ring Shandora's golden bell and fulfill their ancestors' promise. Meanwhile, Monkey D. Luffy escapes from the giant snake and confronts Eneru, whose lightning powers prove ineffective against Luffy's rubber body.

Although Luffy gains the advantage in direct combat, Eneru uses his Mantra and the malleable properties of gold to trap him and remove him from the ark. Eneru then activates Deathpiea, using the Ark Maxim to produce immense thunderclouds capable of annihilating the sky islands. Nami escapes with help from Usopp and Sanji, while the residents of Angel Island begin evacuating under Conis's direction.

As Eneru launches his assault on Skypiea, Luffy learns that the golden bell stands above the ruins of Shandora. Determined both to defeat Eneru and to ring the bell for Cricket Montblanc, he begins climbing the Giant Jack with Nami's assistance. The volume closes with Skypiea facing destruction as Luffy prepares to pursue the Ark Maxim.
