Usopp

ウソップ

Usopp is the sniper of the Straw Hat Pirates, previously the captain of his own small crew, the Usopp Pirates. Known for his tall tales, pranks, and self-professed cowardice, he nonetheless repeatedly proves himself capable of great courage when his friends or their ideals are threatened. He aspires to become a proud and strong pirate like his father, Yasopp of the Red Haired Pirates.

Personality

Usopp is a habitual liar and prankster who enjoys goofing off with Luffy and Chopper, often spinning elaborate tall tales that Chopper believes without question. He considers himself a timid coward, and in ordinary circumstances this self-image holds true. However, in extremely stressful situations he has shown himself to be far braver than he believes, standing firm when his friends are threatened or mocked by outsiders. He looks up to Zoro as a role model for his composure and pride, and generally suffers from low self-esteem, which Nami sometimes takes advantage of to get him to build or repair her weapons.

Abilities

Despite lacking the physical strength of other crew members, Usopp is remarkably resilient and able to endure heavy damage, a trait that, combined with his cunning and intelligence, has saved the Straw Hats on numerous occasions. He is an accomplished craftsman, capable of fixing almost anything, and constructed the ingenious weapon known as the "Clima Tact." His marksmanship with a slingshot is outstanding, and he is working toward becoming one of the best snipers in the world. In combat he is a coward at heart but compensates by using trickery, tales, and mischievous lies to deceive and outwit his enemies.

Values and Goals

Usopp holds the ideals of piracy in high regard and will fight not only for the well-being of others but also to defend their beliefs. His personal ambition is to become a proud and strong pirate in the mold of his father, Yasopp, a member of the Red Haired Pirates.
