While investigating the deaths caused by Mahito, Yuji confronts Junpei after the latter attacks his school. Mahito’s manipulation soon turns their conflict into a brutal test of Yuji’s convictions, culminating in a battle that pushes both Yuji and Nanami to their limits.

Yuji stops Junpei’s attack and persuades him to reconsider his actions, but Mahito intervenes and transfigures Junpei beyond saving. Enraged, Yuji attacks Mahito and is soon joined by Kento Nanami. When Mahito traps Nanami within Self-Embodiment of Perfection, Yuji breaks into the domain, inadvertently bringing Mahito into contact with Sukuna’s soul and forcing the curse to retreat.
Afterward, Yuji reflects on his inability to save everyone but resolves to continue fighting. He then reveals his survival to his classmates as the Kyoto Goodwill Event begins, where the visiting students receive secret orders to kill him.
