Kasumi Miwa

Miwa is kind, hardworking, modest, and much more ordinary in temperament than many of the personalities around her. She is easily embarrassed, worries about money, and openly reacts to powerful or famous sorcerers with the enthusiasm expected from someone who has heard about them rather than grown up among elite jujutsu families.

Her principal practical motivation is financial security. She comes from a poor family and wants to earn enough as a sorcerer to help support her younger brothers.

Miwa is also self-deprecating. The nickname "Useless Miwa" comes from her own tendency to view herself as less valuable than stronger classmates, even when she is performing meaningful duties.

She admires Gojou despite technically belonging to the rival Kyoto school. When given the opportunity to interact with him, Miwa behaves more like an excited fan than a professional colleague.

Her gentle personality does not prevent her from following difficult orders. During the Goodwill Event she participates in Kyoto's operation against Yuuji, though she lacks the personal hatred motivating some other students.

Miwa lacks an innate cursed technique and relies on swordsmanship learned through New Shadow Style.

Her principal barrier technique is Simple Domain, a small defensive domain created around herself. Within its range, Miwa can automatically respond to anything entering the area with her sword.

New Shadow Style: Batto Sword Drawing combines Simple Domain with extremely fast iai-style sword drawing. By placing cursed energy into her feet and controlling the scabbard, Miwa can accelerate her draw and counter attacks entering her range.

Her katana is an ordinary weapon reinforced with cursed energy rather than a naturally special-grade cursed tool.

Miwa's abilities are respectable for a Grade 3 student but suffer against opponents whose physical statistics overwhelm the speed of her counters. Maki demonstrates this by taking Miwa's sword during the Goodwill Event.

Later, Miwa makes a binding vow placing everything she has into a single sword swing against Kenjaku in exchange for never swinging a katana again. Kenjaku catches the attack effortlessly, leaving Miwa without the swordsmanship on which her combat style was built.

Miwa first appears among Kyoto's students before the Goodwill Event and quickly establishes herself as a Gojou admirer despite Principal Gakuganji's opposition to him.

During the event she fights Maki. Miwa attempts to use her Simple Domain and sword-drawing technique but is comprehensively outmaneuvered.

Toudou's technique later causes Miwa to become the accidental target of Inumaki's command to sleep, removing her from much of the battle.

She continues supporting Kyoto Jujutsu High after the event and participates in the wider response to Shibuya.

Miwa arrives with the Kyoto group near the end of the Shibuya confrontation and attacks Kenjaku with a binding vow sacrificing her future use of the katana. The attack fails completely.

Although deprived of her original sword-based combat style, she later assists during the final Sukuna battle by using Simple Domain defensively to help protect allies from Malevolent Shrine.

Satoru Gojou is Miwa's favorite sorcerer and celebrity crush-like object of admiration, though no romantic relationship exists between them.

Kokichi Muta is Miwa's Kyoto classmate. Kokichi develops romantic feelings for her and uses one of his final communications to tell her how much he wanted her to find happiness.

Maki Zenin defeats Miwa during the Goodwill Event by exploiting the gap in their physical abilities.

Aoi Toudou is Miwa's eccentric upperclassman and teammate.

Mai Zenin, Momo Nishimiya, and Noritoshi Kamo are Miwa's Kyoto schoolmates.

Yoshinobu Gakuganji is Kyoto Jujutsu High's principal and one of Miwa's senior authorities.

Kenjaku becomes the target of Miwa's binding-vow sword strike at the end of the Shibuya Incident.
