Mahito

Mahito is playful, sadistic, curious, and fundamentally incapable of sharing human moral assumptions. He recognizes that killing humans horrifies them but views his own behavior as no more unnatural than humans exorcising curses.

He is fascinated by the soul. Rather than accepting conventional ideas about identity or bodily integrity, Mahito treats human beings as experiments through which he can test how changing the shape of a soul alters its body.

That curiosity makes him extremely adaptive. Near-death experiences and difficult opponents excite him because they force him to understand himself more completely. Unlike older curses who already possess settled personalities, Mahito visibly evolves over the course of his confrontations.

He also enjoys psychological cruelty. Once he recognizes that Yuuji values human life intensely, Mahito deliberately targets people around him and attempts to destroy his belief that deaths can always be given meaning.

Idle Transfiguration allows Mahito to alter the shape of any soul he touches. Because the body follows the soul's shape, he can deform humans into grotesque transfigured beings, repair or alter his own body, grow weapons and additional limbs, and transform his physical structure for combat.

Ordinary physical damage is largely ineffective because Mahito can preserve the shape of his soul and restore the body around it. To injure him reliably, an attack must affect the soul itself or exhaust his cursed energy enough that maintaining his form becomes impossible.

His understanding of his own soul develops continually. He can produce clones, divide his body, create specialized transfigured humans, increase or reduce body size, generate armor, and reconstruct limbs into offensive forms.

Self-Embodiment of Perfection is his Domain Expansion. Anyone caught within it is effectively placed in contact with Mahito's palm, allowing Idle Transfiguration to activate without the normal need for him to physically touch the target.

He learns to perform a 0.2-second Domain Expansion after observing Gojou in Shibuya, demonstrating exceptional instinct for replicating high-level applications after seeing them only briefly.

After reaching a deeper understanding of his soul during the battle with Yuuji and Toudou, Mahito develops Instant Spirit Body of Distorted Killing, a reinforced transformation that greatly increases his physical durability and combat performance.

Mahito first operates with Jougo, Hanami, and Kenjaku as part of the cursed spirits' effort to remove Gojou and create a world in which curses replace humans.

He encounters Junpei Yoshino, a bullied student whose resentment makes him easy to manipulate. Mahito encourages Junpei's anger and introduces him to cursed energy while treating him as an experiment rather than a genuine friend.

Yuuji Itadori and Kento Nanami become Mahito's principal early opponents. Yuuji is particularly dangerous to him because sharing a body with Sukuna gives Yuuji an intuitive awareness of the soul.

Mahito attempts to use his domain on Nanami and Yuuji, only for his technique to touch Sukuna's soul as well. Sukuna severely injures him for the intrusion and makes it clear that repeated contact will not be tolerated.

During the Kyoto Goodwill Event operation, Mahito infiltrates Jujutsu High and steals several special-grade cursed objects while the other curses distract Gojou and the students.

In Shibuya, Mahito plays a central role in the curses' campaign. He unleashes transfigured humans throughout the station and hunts separated sorcerers while developing new applications of his technique.

Mahito kills Nanami in front of Yuuji and then critically injures Nobara with Idle Transfiguration, driving Yuuji into despair. Aoi Toudou arrives and helps Yuuji regain the resolve to fight.

After a prolonged battle, Yuuji defeats Mahito psychologically and physically. Mahito attempts to flee, only for Kenjaku to absorb him through Cursed Spirit Manipulation and later extract Idle Transfiguration using Maximum: Uzumaki.

Yuuji Itadori becomes Mahito's defining enemy. Mahito treats their conflict as proof that humans and curses kill according to their own natures, while Yuuji gradually accepts the need to destroy him without searching for a grand justification.

Junpei Yoshino is manipulated by Mahito as both an experiment and a tool against Yuuji.

Kento Nanami repeatedly confronts Mahito and is one of the first sorcerers to understand the mechanics that make him difficult to kill.

Jougo, Hanami, and Dagon are Mahito's fellow intelligent cursed spirits and closest equivalents to companions.

Kenjaku works with Mahito and the disaster curses while pursuing a much larger plan. He eventually absorbs Mahito once Idle Transfiguration has matured sufficiently for his purposes.

Aoi Toudou joins Yuuji against Mahito in Shibuya and uses Boogie Woogie to disrupt Mahito's ability to control the battle.

Nobara Kugisaki becomes a particularly dangerous opponent because Resonance can transmit damage through the soul connection between Mahito and his double.

Ryomen Sukuna inhabits the same body as Yuuji and violently warns Mahito against touching his soul.
