The Straw Hats head for a new land of adventure in the isolated kingdom of Wano. Awaiting them are Kaido's powerful forces, a country suffering under oppressive rule, and numerous new dangers.
After becoming separated from his crew, Monkey D. Luffy meets a young girl whose circumstances reveal the hardship endured by Wano's people. His efforts to help her soon draw him into direct conflict with the Beasts Pirates.
Separated from his companions after entering Wano, Luffy rescues Tama, a young girl living in poverty near the ruins of Amigasa Village. When contaminated water makes her ill, Luffy sets out to find treatment and reunites with Roronoa Zoro. After briefly confronting Basil Hawkins, they bring Tama to Okobore Town, where they witness the deprivation caused by Wano's corrupt rulers and Kaido's industrial operations.
Tama is kidnapped and taken to Bakura Town, prompting Luffy, Zoro, and the samurai Kiku to attack the settlement. Luffy defeats the sumo wrestler Urashima and Beasts Pirates Headliner Holdem, then seizes a shipment of food and distributes it among Okobore Town's starving residents. The group subsequently joins Trafalgar Law and travels to the ruins of Oden Castle.
There, Kin'emon reveals that he, Kiku, Raizo, Kanjuro, and Momonosuke were sent twenty years into the future by Kozuki Toki. The alliance begins preparing an assault on Onigashima during the Fire Festival, while the powerful outlaw Shutenmaru clashes with Jack. Kaido then appears over the region in the form of a colossal dragon.
