The Kito family casts Okarun and his companions into an underground version of Jiji’s home as an offering to the giant serpent. A child sacrificed there long ago possesses Jiji and becomes the Evil Eye, leaving Okarun to battle his friend while Momo searches for a way to stop the serpent and the approaching volcanic disaster.
Jiji sympathizes with the sacrificed child and promises to play with him, unknowingly allowing the spirit to possess his body. Reborn through Jiji as the Evil Eye, the yokai attacks Okarun and declares its intention to destroy humanity. Okarun remains underground to delay it while sending Momo to the surface.
Momo realizes that the Tsuchinoko’s activity is linked to the volcano and devises a large-scale plan involving water, lava and the serpent’s wormlike biology. Her efforts expose the creature to the world as a supposed unidentified flying object. After the immediate disaster is contained, Seiko and her allies attempt to separate the Evil Eye from Jiji without killing their host.
