Momo and the others board a plane for Izumo to address the effects of the cursed trunk, but the escaped Kito family attacks during the flight. When a sentient typhoon fills the sky with frozen sharks and cripples the aircraft, the hostile groups are forced to cooperate against a threat capable of bringing everyone aboard down.
The Kito family ambushes Seiko Ayase, Momo Ayase, and their companions aboard the flight to Shimane. Their confrontation is interrupted when the Typhoon Human damages the plane and surrounds it with airborne sharks. Momo, Jiji, and the others combine their abilities with the Kitos’ unusual resources to weaken the storm and keep the aircraft aloft.
After surviving the crisis, the travelers reorganize and finally reach Izumo Taisha. Their objective has already been compromised, however: the Uchide-no-Kozuchi has been stolen by a figure known as the Phantom Ninja Thief. Seiko immediately joins a pursuit toward Matsue Castle while the remaining group begins preparing for the next confrontation.
