Shunmen is proud, outspoken and highly competitive. He repeatedly boasts about the Bird Fang Tribe's speed and combat reputation, particularly when other mountain tribes challenge their standing.
His loyalty to Duan He Yang is nevertheless firmly established. Having personally experienced the difference between their abilities, he respects her authority even when he complains or competes with fellow commanders.

Shunmen is an exceptionally fast mountain warrior and an accomplished swordsman. The Bird Fang Tribe specializes in rapid movement, and Shunmen stands among its strongest fighters.
Before joining Duan He Yang, he was considered his tribe's greatest warrior. She defeated him when conquering the Bird Fang Tribe, and repeated sparring matches afterward reinforce the enormous gap between Shunmen and the mountain king herself.
His speed and agility are especially useful in the difficult terrain where the mountain armies operate.

Shunmen joins the assault on Kanyou during Cheng Jiao's rebellion. Fighting beside Xin and other mountain warriors, he helps penetrate the palace and confront Lan Kai.
He later appears in Duan He Yang's major campaigns as Qin increasingly relies on the mountain army. During the Coalition invasion and subsequent wars in Zhao, Shunmen serves as one of her dependable field commanders.
At Ryouyou, his experience helps the mountain forces contend with the Quanrong, whose own warriors possess comparable familiarity with unconventional terrain and tribal warfare.
