You Long

You Long is dependable and generally level-headed, functioning comfortably among the rough personalities of the original Hi Shin Unit. He is not characterized by the dramatic ambitions or eccentricities of its most prominent members, instead behaving like a professional veteran accustomed to hardship.

He is sociable enough to participate naturally in the unit's everyday conversations and camp life. His cooking is a notable part of that role, giving him an unusual practical specialty away from combat.

Years of campaigning demonstrate considerable loyalty. Despite repeated battles against stronger armies and severe losses among the original members, he continues serving under Xin.

You Long is an experienced infantry fighter who has survived numerous large-scale campaigns. He was selected as one of the squad leaders when the Hi Shin Unit was initially organized, indicating that he was already considered capable of directing soldiers in combat.

His strength lies primarily in battlefield experience rather than extraordinary individual martial ability. He fights within formations, coordinates with fellow infantrymen and helps maintain the veteran core around which newer Hi Shin recruits are organized.

You Long is also an accomplished cook. Although this has little direct military application, it is repeatedly recognized by the unit and makes him useful during marches and encampments.

You Long becomes part of the Hi Shin Unit when Xin receives command of one hundred soldiers following his achievements under Wang Qi. He is one of the original squad leaders who participate in the unit's dangerous first mission against the Zhao army.

He remains with the unit as it expands from a small special detachment into a major Qin formation. His appearances frequently place him among other long-serving soldiers during battles, marches and discussions, emphasizing the continuity between Xin's earliest command and his later army.

Through years of warfare, You Long remains among the surviving veterans of the original 100-man Hi Shin Unit and continues serving as the organization grows around them.

Xin is You Long's commander. You Long has followed him since the Hi Shin Unit's original 100-man formation.

Qiang Lei is another founding member of the Hi Shin Unit's veteran core and fights alongside You Long through numerous campaigns.

Bi Hei, Suu Gen, Den Yuu, Ryuu Sen and Taku Kei are fellow veterans who share much of You Long's long service in the Hi Shin Unit.
