Synopsis
One Piece Film: Z follows Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates after they rescue a powerful stranger adrift in the New World. The man is Zephyr, known as “Z,” a former Marine admiral who now commands the Neo Marines and considers pirates responsible for the world’s suffering. The encounter draws the crew into a conflict involving stolen Dyna Stones, devastating weapons capable of triggering catastrophic volcanic eruptions.
The film tells an original, non-canon story rather than adapting a manga arc. Its events are loosely positioned after the Fish-Man Island storyline, with the anime-original Z’s Ambition Arc serving as a promotional prologue. Notable for its morally complex antagonist, large-scale naval battles, and exploration of disillusionment within the Marines, the film places the Straw Hats against an enemy whose history is closely tied to several of the organization’s most prominent officers.
