Banchina is gentle, supportive and accepting of her husband’s ambitions. She does not condemn Yasopp for going to sea and assures Usopp that she is proud to have married a pirate.
She understands that Usopp’s claims about pirate ships approaching the village are attempts to give her hope. Rather than rebuke him, she responds with affection while acknowledging that Yasopp has not actually returned.
Only a small amount of her life is shown, but her warmth helps explain why Usopp associates piracy with courage and aspiration despite growing up without his father.

Banchina appears in flashbacks to Usopp’s childhood. After Yasopp leaves Syrup Village, she becomes seriously ill, and Usopp repeatedly runs through the village claiming that pirates are coming.
He hopes that news of Yasopp’s return will encourage her to recover. Banchina dies from her illness, but Usopp continues the warnings after her death, turning a private effort to comfort his mother into a habitual pattern of lying.
Her history provides the emotional context for Usopp’s behavior during the Syrup Village arc. His lies are not solely mischief; they began as an attempt to sustain hope during a family crisis.

Usopp is Banchina’s son and caretaker during her final illness. She recognizes the kindness behind his lies and encourages his admiration for pirates.
Yasopp is her husband. Banchina supports his decision to sail with Shanks and remains proud of him in his absence, though canon gives little information about their life together before his departure.
Shanks recruits Yasopp into the Red Hair Pirates, indirectly shaping Banchina and Usopp’s lives. No meeting between Banchina and the rest of the crew is shown.
