Naruto’s new chakra form allows him to sense Kisame hiding inside Samehada. Kisame escapes with the intelligence he gathered while spying on the Allied Shinobi Forces, prompting Might Guy to pursue him. Their final confrontation ends when Guy overcomes Kisame’s strongest technique with the Daytime Tiger. Refusing to surrender Akatsuki’s secrets, Kisame takes his own life and ensures that his intelligence reaches Tobi.

Tobi travels to Amegakure to retrieve Nagato’s Rinnegan, but Konan rejects him and reveals that she has prepared an enormous trap specifically to counter his space–time ninjutsu. Although she nearly kills him, Tobi survives by sacrificing a Sharingan through Izanagi. He fatally wounds Konan and locates Nagato’s body.

After receiving Kisame’s intelligence, Tobi sends Kabuto Yakushi to capture Naruto and Killer B. Kabuto clashes with the Tsuchikage’s forces and uses a revived Deidara as support. Unable to seize either jinchūriki, he captures Yamato, whose abilities can enhance the White Zetsu army.
