Guy Might

マイト・ガイ

Story Role

Guy is introduced as the eccentric jōnin supervising Team Guy during the Chūnin Exam period. His first significant interaction occurs when he interrupts Lee's unauthorized fight with Sasuke and immediately demonstrates the intense teacher-student bond between them.

During Lee's match against Gaara, Guy explains the Eight Gates and the severe risks involved. When Gaara attempts to continue attacking Lee after the match is effectively over, Guy intervenes personally.

After Lee's injuries threaten to end his career, Guy promises to die alongside him if the surgery fails, restoring Lee's determination to risk the procedure rather than surrender his dream. The official Naruto site highlights Guy's role in giving Lee the courage to continue.

In Part II, Team Guy joins the mission to rescue Gaara from Akatsuki. Guy later becomes one of the few shinobi capable of fighting Kisame Hoshigaki repeatedly without relying on ninjutsu that Samehada can absorb.

During the Fourth Shinobi World War, Guy fights alongside Kakashi and Naruto against increasingly powerful enemies. His mastery of the Gates eventually makes him central to the battle against Madara.

When conventional attacks fail against Madara's Ten-Tails jinchūriki form, Guy opens the Eighth Gate despite knowing the technique should kill him. His performance is so extraordinary that Madara explicitly acknowledges him as the strongest taijutsu user he has encountered.
