Akane’s final Karaku Cup performance enthralls the audience, but Issho responds with a judgment she did not anticipate. Once the competition concludes, Akane graduates from high school and formally enters the professional rakugo world, where backstage responsibilities and zenza training present challenges entirely different from performing before an audience.
Akane wins the Karaku Cup and earns a private conversation with Issho, but he refuses to validate her attempt to avenge Shinta. Instead, he challenges her to pursue rakugo for herself and offers an accelerated route into his school. Akane declines, choosing to remain with Shiguma and build her career through conventional professional training.
After graduation, Akane receives her stage name and begins working backstage at Yasaka-tei alongside Karashi. Asagao Konjakutei, the senior zenza, subjects her to the demanding routines that keep performances running smoothly. Initially distracted by the storytellers onstage, Akane learns background listening and anticipatory work, eventually earning an opening slot against the antagonistic futatsume Rien Konjakuan.
