Sora Takeuchi

Sora initially presents himself as relaxed, friendly and almost impossible to embarrass. He jokes constantly, behaves perversely around women and speaks with the easy confidence of someone who once stood at the top of the Storm Rider world. Rika Noyamano frequently responds to his behavior with physical punishment.

Beneath that casual exterior is an exceptionally driven personality. Sora believes strongly in action and despises people who accept limitations without attempting to change them. His own experiences as a Gravity Child shape his obsession with the relationship between ordinary humans, engineered riders and the power hidden beneath the Trophaeum.

As his actual objectives become clear, Sora's friendliness gives way to a far colder and more ruthless disposition. He is willing to manipulate allies, sacrifice Gravity Children and use people close to him if doing so advances his plan to seize the Sky Regalia and remake the balance between ordinary humans and enhanced riders.

Sora is one of the original masters of the Wing Road. Before losing the use of his legs, he holds the Wind Regalia and demonstrates the ability to read air currents, create lift and exploit atmospheric conditions at a level that makes him the model against which later Wing Road riders are measured.

Even while using a wheelchair, he retains extraordinary mobility through customized A-T technology and enough understanding of the Road to train Ikki. His teaching helps Ikki perceive and manipulate wind more deliberately rather than relying entirely on instinct.

As a first-generation Gravity Child, Sora possesses enhanced spatial perception and physical potential. He later replaces his unusable legs with advanced prosthetic A-T limbs, allowing him to ride at full combat capacity again. He regains the Wind Regalia and develops the Tempest Road, combining extraordinary wind manipulation with techniques enabled by his artificial body.

Sora eventually obtains access to the Sky Regalia, whose control over the Trophaeum's advanced technology gives his ambitions a scale far beyond ordinary Parts Wars.

Sora belongs to the generation that shaped the modern Storm Rider world. He leads the original Sleeping Forest alongside Kilik, Spitfire, Dontores, Falko, Black Burn, Ine Makigami and Rika.

By the time Ikki meets him, that era has ended and Sora appears to be a retired former King. He recognizes Ikki's compatibility with the Wing Road and becomes his teacher, helping him understand the wind and the responsibilities attached to becoming a King.

The apparent story of Sora as a former King betrayed by Kilik is eventually overturned. Kilik rebelled after discovering Sora's intention to seize the Sky Regalia, and the resulting battle cost Sora his legs and Wind Regalia. Years later, Sora has been directing Genesis with his twin brother Nike and uses Ikki's rise as part of his attempt to reclaim what he lost.

Sora ultimately takes control of Genesis, regains his ability to ride and becomes the principal opponent standing between Kogarasumaru and the Sky Regalia. His conflict with Ikki turns the relationship between teacher and student into a battle between two radically different ideas of what freedom in the sky should mean.

Itsuki Minami initially knows Sora as a retired Wind King and mentor. Sora teaches him to understand the Wing Road and recognizes his exceptional potential. Sora later betrays Ikki, takes the Wind Regalia intended for him and becomes his principal opponent in the struggle over the Sky Regalia.

Rika Noyamano is Sora's former teammate and romantic partner from the original Sleeping Forest. Their relationship is shattered by the conflict surrounding Sora's ambitions, and Sora later forcibly brings Rika under Genesis's control.

Kilik grows up alongside Sora as a fellow Gravity Child and serves with him in Sleeping Forest. Kilik discovers Sora's intentions toward the Sky Regalia and turns against him, defeating him and taking the Wind Regalia.

Nike is Sora's younger twin brother and closest partner in his later plans. Together they control Genesis and pursue the Sky Regalia, with Nike acting as one of Sora's most powerful enforcers.

Spitfire is Sora's former Sleeping Forest teammate. Spitfire eventually opposes Sora's plans and works to prevent Genesis from securing the Sky Regalia.

Simca is another Gravity Child tied to Sora's generation and the development of Genesis. Her attempt to place Genesis behind Ikki directly conflicts with Sora and Nike's plans for the organization.

Kilik, Dontores, Falko, Black Burn, Ine Makigami and Rika Noyamano formed Sora's original Sleeping Forest, the team whose collapse set much of the later conflict in motion.
