Black Burn

Black Burn's younger self is a capable and committed member of the original Sleeping Forest. Like the other Kings, he operates at a level far removed from ordinary Storm Riders and participates in the conflicts surrounding Trophaeum Tower.

His later personality is considerably rougher. Years of disappointment and personal hardship leave him drinking heavily and maintaining a difficult relationship with those closest to him.

Despite that deterioration, Black Burn retains a powerful protective instinct. His later actions show that much of his apparent irresponsibility conceals efforts to protect Nue and the younger Gravity Children from forces manipulating their lives.

Black Burn follows the Rising Road and originally possesses the Thunder Regalia. The system generates artificial lightning while using specialized wires to conduct electricity, create magnetic fields and control the space around its user.

Lightning Spider Net entangles opponents in conductive wire before sending electricity through the network. Tesla Coil arranges the wires defensively to redirect incoming attacks, while Under Suspension uses them physically to seize and slam an opponent.

The Regalia can also produce electromagnetic effects that interfere with the brain and create convincing hallucinations. Black Burn's command of Lightning Spider Net is notably superior to Nue's early version, something Ikki recognizes when comparing the two Thunder Kings.

Black Burn can coordinate his electricity with wind-based techniques. Together with Sora Takeuchi, he can channel electrical current through a wind stream to create a powerful combined attack.

Black Burn rides with the original Sleeping Forest as Thunder King. His recorded abilities later survive within Inorganic Net, the digital recreation of the original team used to test Kogarasumaru.

The simulation provides an early indication that Black Burn has a child, although the importance of that information is not immediately apparent. His techniques also give Kogarasumaru direct experience against the original form of the Rising Road.

Black Burn is later revealed as Nue's father and the masked Hanged Man. After the original Sleeping Forest collapses, his life becomes intertwined with the second-generation Gravity Children whom Nue gathers around himself.

He eventually enters the battle aboard Genesis's aircraft carrier, confronting Nue and forcing his son to face both the history of the Thunder Regalia and the reasons behind Black Burn's past behavior.

Nue is Black Burn's son and successor as Thunder King. Their relationship is strained by Black Burn's alcoholism and behavior after the original Sleeping Forest collapses, but his later actions reveal a continuing determination to protect Nue.

Sora Takeuchi is Black Burn's former teammate and Wind King. Their Roads can be combined into an electrically charged wind attack.

Kilik, Spitfire, Falko, Dontores, Ine Makigami and Rika Noyamano are Black Burn's fellow Kings from the original Sleeping Forest.

Minami Rinta is connected to the Gravity Child research surrounding both Black Burn's generation and the younger children later protected by his family.
