Kajiki Kurokami

Kajiki is extremely self-assured. He trusts his plans, his position and the capabilities of his children, rarely behaving as though events can truly escape the reach of the Kurokami family.

He describes the Kurokami family as possessing excessive amounts of love and uses the idea to explain his own unconventional marriages. Even when discussing family tensions, he remains confident in his place as Medaka's father.

Kajiki is also secretive when he believes information should remain hidden. Family affection does not prevent him from withholding answers from Medaka or arranging matters around her without first seeking her approval.

Kajiki has no named Abnormality, Minus or Style established in the manga.

His principal power is institutional. As the former head of the enormous Kurokami Group, he possesses resources and influence extending far beyond Hakoniwa Academy.

He is also exceptionally well informed about the Kurokami and Shiranui family systems, including matters deliberately concealed from Medaka and other younger characters.

Kajiki initially appears as part of Medaka's family background, establishing the scale of the Kurokami Group and the unusual household into which she was born.

His importance grows when the Jet Black Wedding Feast and the history of the Kurokami family's marriages become relevant. Roughly twenty years earlier, Kajiki participated in his own Wedding Feast and ultimately married all seven women selected as prospective partners rather than choosing only one.

Those marriages produce his three children through different mothers: Maguro through the Kugurugi representative, Kujira through Nashi Momozono, and Medaka through Hato Tsurubami. After Hato's death following Medaka's birth, another of Kajiki's wives becomes Medaka's legal mother.

Kajiki also knows important information about the Tsurubami and Shiranui families. When Medaka demands information he refuses to provide, she declares that she will take control of the Kurokami Group herself in order to force the issue.

Medaka Kurokami is Kajiki's youngest daughter. Kajiki has complete confidence in Medaka Kurokami's abilities, although his secrecy and willingness to make decisions around her create friction between them.

Maguro Kurokami is Kajiki's eldest child and son.

Kujira Kurokami is Kajiki's older daughter.

Hato Tsurubami is one of Kajiki's seven wives and Medaka's biological mother.

Nashi Kurokami is another of Kajiki's wives and Kujira's biological mother.

Fukurou Tsurubami is Kajiki's brother-in-law through Hato. Kajiki knows more about Fukurou Tsurubami's activities than he initially tells Medaka.

Kamome Tsurubami is Kajiki's nephew through the Tsurubami family.

Hansode Shiranui is connected to Kajiki through the arrangement that places her near Medaka as a double.
