Fukurou Tsurubami

Fukurou is outwardly calm and frequently treats bizarre or disturbing situations as though they are ordinary. He shares several mannerisms with Kamome Tsurubami, including asking people whether they are his fans and using adulthood as justification for his behavior.

Despite creating Styles around communication, Fukurou is remarkably poor at understanding other people. He has spent his life making compromises rather than becoming genuinely angry and consequently struggles to understand people who abandon rational restraint.

His feelings toward his older sister dominate much of his private life. Fukurou possesses an extreme sister complex toward Hato and repeatedly attempts to recreate an idealized, gentler version of her through other people.

Fukurou is the principal developer of Styles, a language-based system designed to counter skills. Rather than functioning like conventional Abnormalities or Minuses, Styles manipulate meaning, communication, wordplay and the assumptions created through language.

His own Style is Testament User. Statements made through it are arranged to take effect after his death, allowing Fukurou to prepare consequences that outlast his direct participation in events.

Fukurou is also a highly accomplished medical researcher and former hospital director. His knowledge extends across medicine, human abilities and the theoretical structure underlying Styles.

Fukurou's influence reaches back to Hakoniwa General Hospital thirteen years before the main story, where he served as director and knew several members of the Kurokami and Hitoyoshi families.

He later becomes involved in the second Jet Black Wedding Feast and the events surrounding the Shiranui Village. Fukurou engineered the Wedding Feast in pursuit of a woman resembling Hato and manipulated events involving Medaka, Kamome and the six suitor families toward that objective.

His work on Styles also becomes essential during the confrontation with Iihiko. Fukurou's Testament User preparations continue affecting events even after he can no longer intervene personally.

Hato Tsurubami is Fukurou's older sister and the person around whom his deepest obsession develops. Fukurou's inability to accept Hato as she actually was drives his repeated attempts to create or find a gentler substitute for her.

Kamome Tsurubami is Fukurou's son. Fukurou originally intended Kamome as another attempt to recreate Hato, but abandoned him and his mother when the child was born male.

Medaka Kurokami is Fukurou's niece. Because Medaka resembles Hato, Fukurou's interest in her becomes entangled with his obsession with his sister.

Kajiki Kurokami is Fukurou's brother-in-law through Hato.

Najimi Ajimu recognizes the importance of Fukurou's Styles in dealing with opponents whose abilities do not fit ordinary skill-based combat.
