Juzo Megure

Megure is serious, responsible, and generally patient, though the endless stream of murders surrounding familiar civilians frequently tests that patience. He can become exasperated with Kogoro's behavior and with suspects who waste investigators' time, but he remains focused on establishing evidence before making an arrest.

As a commanding officer, Megure is strict without being indifferent to his subordinates. He shows genuine concern when officers are endangered and has built strong working relationships with the detectives who regularly accompany him.

He is also willing to acknowledge useful deductions regardless of their source. Although Conan's involvement can be unusual, Megure has seen enough of the child's observations to take his clues seriously.

Megure is a veteran homicide investigator with decades of police experience. He supervises crime scenes, interviews suspects, coordinates searches, evaluates evidence, and directs subordinate officers.

His strength lies less in spectacular deduction than in dependable police procedure and experience. Megure frequently establishes the basic facts of a case before Conan or another detective identifies the decisive contradiction.

He is also physically courageous and has repeatedly entered dangerous situations alongside his officers rather than remaining removed from the action.

Megure is one of the series' principal police figures and appears from its opening case. He initially knows Shinichi as a talented teenage detective who assists official investigations, continuing a connection established through Yusaku.

After Shinichi disappears and Kogoro becomes unexpectedly successful, Megure begins relying increasingly on "Sleeping Kogoro." He remains unaware that Conan is usually responsible for the deductions presented in Kogoro's voice.

Megure's own past receives particular attention through the story of the scar beneath his hat. As a young officer, he met Midori during an investigation into attacks on girls dressed in a particular fashion. Midori deliberately acted as bait, and Megure protected her when the culprit attacked. Both were injured, leaving Megure with the scar he conceals beneath his hat; they later married.

Midori Megure is Megure's wife. They first meet during the serial assault case that leaves both of them injured, and their shared experience eventually develops into marriage.

Kogorou Mouri formerly worked with Megure as a police officer and later becomes a private detective whom Megure frequently encounters at crime scenes.

Yusaku Kudo assisted Megure with difficult cases in the past and earned his considerable respect as a detective.

Shinichi Kudo accompanied his father during some investigations and later began assisting Megure independently as a teenage detective.

Wataru Takagi, Miwako Satou, Ninzaburo Shiratori, and Kazunobu Chiba are recurring officers who investigate cases under or alongside Megure.

Conan Edogawa repeatedly provides Megure with useful observations, although Megure does not understand the true reason for the child's exceptional investigative ability.
