Judeau

Judeau is easygoing, perceptive and socially intelligent. Where Corkus is confrontational and Casca can be emotionally guarded, Judeau tends to mediate disagreements and quietly identify what people are actually feeling.

He describes himself as someone who can do many things reasonably well without being the best at any of them. That modest assessment reflects his personality as much as his abilities: Judeau rarely seeks attention or status.

His feelings for Casca are sincere but restrained. He understands her devotion to Griffith and later recognizes her growing bond with Guts, choosing not to force his own feelings between them.

Judeau is an exceptional throwing-knife specialist. He can strike targets rapidly and accurately at range, making his knives valuable both in open combat and during surprise attacks.

His circus background gives him excellent agility and dexterity. He is also a competent swordsman, rider and scout, reflecting the broad versatility he describes when discussing his own talents.

Judeau's observational skill has strategic value as well. He reads people and changing situations quickly, often noticing emotional or political developments before his comrades.

Judeau helps Guts adjust to life within the Band of the Hawk and frequently provides him with context about Griffith, Casca and the mercenary company's history. He becomes a trusted confidant rather than simply another soldier.

When Guts decides to leave the Hawks, Judeau understands his reasoning and does not condemn him. After Griffith's fall from favor, Judeau remains with Casca and the remnants of the company.

He participates in Griffith's rescue and fights through the Bakiraka pursuit alongside the other senior Hawks.

During the Eclipse, Judeau focuses on protecting Casca rather than attempting to save himself. He is mortally wounded while helping her escape the Apostles and dies before he can clearly confess his love to her.

Casca is the person Judeau secretly loves. He understands that her feelings are directed elsewhere and largely suppresses his own desires rather than burdening her with them.

Guts becomes one of Judeau's closest friends. Judeau offers him advice about Casca, Griffith and life within the Hawks.

Griffith is Judeau's commander and the person around whose dream the original Band of the Hawk forms.

Pippin, Corkus, Rickert and Gaston are Judeau's fellow Hawks and longtime comrades.
