Corkus is boastful, argumentative and deeply concerned with status. He dreams of wealth, noble titles and the comfortable life that victory under Griffith might eventually provide.
His hostility toward Guts combines jealousy with genuine disagreement. Corkus sees Guts as an arrogant outsider who receives extraordinary privileges despite refusing to appreciate what membership in the Hawks offers him.
Despite his abrasive personality, Corkus is loyal to the Band of the Hawk. He remains with the company through its collapse and shares the other surviving members' desperation to restore what they once had.

Corkus is an experienced mounted mercenary and swordsman. He is not among the Hawks' exceptional fighters, but years of warfare under Griffith make him considerably more capable than an ordinary civilian or inexperienced soldier.
His earlier life as a bandit also gives him practical experience with ambushes, robbery and irregular combat.
Corkus possesses no supernatural abilities.

Corkus's band attacks Guts after noticing the money he carries. The encounter leads indirectly to Guts meeting Griffith and eventually joining the Band of the Hawk.
Throughout the Golden Age, Corkus acts as one of Guts's most vocal critics. He reacts angrily when Guts chooses to leave the Hawks, seeing the decision as a rejection of the opportunity and comradeship Griffith gave him.
After Griffith's imprisonment, Corkus remains among the fugitive Hawks. He participates in the rescue operation and the company's attempt to rebuild its future.
During the Eclipse, Corkus initially refuses to comprehend the supernatural massacre around him. He encounters a beautiful woman who reveals herself as a female Apostle and kills him.
