Nue

Nue is thoughtful, responsible and protective toward Black Crow. He behaves less like a thrill-seeking Storm Rider than a young commander responsible for people whose futures depend on his decisions.

Although capable of cooperating with Kogarasumaru, he does not automatically join Ikki simply because their personal relationship is relatively friendly. Nue evaluates which faction offers the best future for those under his protection and makes decisions accordingly.

His seriousness also masks considerable emotional strain. The circumstances surrounding Black Crow, his father and the origins of its members force Nue to balance resentment against the sacrifices made on his behalf.

Nue follows the Rising Road and holds the Thunder Regalia. His equipment uses electrical current and magnetic fields generated through Air Treck movement. The Regalia can magnetize surrounding metallic objects, create electrical attacks and manipulate an environment rich in conductive material.

His armor can take different configurations. A heavier form provides substantial protection and electrical capability, while a lighter configuration retains gauntlets and lower-body components while replacing much of the upper armor with a three-pronged wire mechanism.

Nue can use techniques such as Get Together to draw metal toward himself through magnetism and Atmosphere Max to produce large-scale electromagnetic effects. These abilities make urban or machinery-filled environments particularly advantageous.

For much of the story, Nue's Thunder Regalia lacks the original core. Once a recreated core is installed, the potential output of his run increases dramatically, allowing him to use the system much closer to its intended capacity.

Nue appears as Thunder King and leader of Black Crow within Genesis. He initially occupies an unusual position relative to Kogarasumaru: he is not personally committed to destroying Ikki, yet he refuses an invitation to abandon Genesis.

His choice is tied to the future of Black Crow. Nue believes Genesis offers a route toward changing the conditions under which his teammates have been forced to live, giving his allegiance a motive beyond loyalty to the organization's leaders.

Nue reveals that Black Crow consists of second-generation Gravity Children, connecting the team directly to the experiments that produced the original generation. He remains with Genesis because Sora promises a world in which Gravity Children can live normally.

During the aircraft-carrier conflict, Nue fights Ikki directly. After his defeat, he relinquishes the Thunder Regalia's core, contributing it to Ikki's final effort against Sora.

Black Burn is Nue's father and the previous Thunder King. Although Nue resents aspects of their relationship, Black Burn's actions are eventually shown to have been driven by a desperate attempt to protect his son and the second-generation Gravity Children.

Kana is Nue's Link Tuner and technical partner, responsible for maintaining equipment suited to the Thunder King's demanding Rising Road.

Itsuki Minami is both an ally and eventual opponent. Nue respects Ikki but initially refuses to leave Genesis for Kogarasumaru because he prioritizes Black Crow's future.

Sora Takeuchi gains Nue's allegiance by promising to transform society for the benefit of Gravity Children. Nue's faith in that objective eventually brings him into direct conflict with Ikki aboard Genesis's aircraft carrier.

Spitfire encounters Nue during the larger Genesis conflict. Nue is among those present for Spitfire's final words.

Taeko Aikawa fights alongside Ikki against Nue and uses her prototype equipment to counter aspects of the Rising Road.
