Naruto Vol. 19

Tsunade meets Orochimaru under the pretense of accepting his offer but secretly attempts to kill him rather than restore his arms. Kabuto anticipates the betrayal and intervenes, drawing Tsunade into battle. Although her superior experience initially gives her the advantage, Kabuto exploits her fear of blood and leaves her unable to defend herself. Jiraiya, Naruto, and Shizune arrive before Orochimaru can finish her.

Naruto confronts Kabuto and uses a shadow clone to hold his opponent in place while forming a complete Rasengan. The attack severely injures Kabuto, but Naruto also suffers critical damage. Inspired by his refusal to abandon his promise, Tsunade overcomes her fear, protects him, and accepts her responsibility as the future Fifth Hokage. She releases the Strength of a Hundred Seal and regenerates her injuries.

The three Sannin summon their signature creatures as Tsunade and Jiraiya combine forces against Orochimaru. After Tsunade repeatedly strikes him with her immense strength, Orochimaru retreats with Kabuto. Tsunade heals Naruto, acknowledges that he won their wager, and gives him the First Hokage’s necklace. She then agrees to return to Konoha and succeed her former teacher as Hokage.
