Synopsis
The elderly courtesan Suzuran has spent decades waiting for a man who promised to return when the moon was full. Hoping to fulfill her final wish, Tsukuyo asks Gintoki Sakata, Kagura, and Shinpachi Shimura to identify the mysterious man and reunite him with Suzuran.
Their investigation leads from Yoshiwara to Edo Castle and exposes a conflict tied to former shogun Sadasada Tokugawa, veteran retainer Maizo Rotten, and the secretive Tendoshu. The film is a theatrical re-edit of television episodes 257–261, adapting the Courtesan of a Nation Arc with bonus footage rather than presenting a new chronological storyline.
