Yohkyo Asakura

Yohkyo is arrogant, resentful and obsessed with the prestige of his branch family. He considers himself an onmyōji and believes that the ascension of Hao Asakura has created the opportunity for the Kyoto branch to reclaim what he regards as its rightful place. His self-importance greatly exceeds the effectiveness he demonstrates when facing genuinely powerful shamans.

His domestic life reveals another side to him. Yohkyo is an enthusiastic otaku whose hobby is building and collecting plastic models; his former Kyoto residence contains a room filled with figures and kits. His attachment to collectibles remains strong even when his circumstances deteriorate.

Yohkyo is also a deeply controlling father. He isolates Luca and Yohane in the mountains, depriving them of ordinary friendships and social experience while raising them around the branch family's feud.

Yohkyo claims training in onmyōdō and uses Giong as his Guardian Ghost. Giong has supposedly belonged to the branch Asakura family for approximately a millennium, but its long period without practical combat leaves its Over Soul poorly suited to confront powerful modern shamans.

Yohkyo also receives fragments of Fra YVS's power through Yohsuke Kamogawa. These can amplify his abilities, although possessing YVS's power does not make him competitive with the strongest fighters involved in the Flower of Maize conflict.

Yohkyo raises Luca and Yohane alone in the mountains outside Kyoto and teaches them that their branch should replace the main Asakura family. He eventually sends the siblings to Funbari Hill to eliminate Hana Asakura, hoping to remove the main family's successor.

After both children fail, Tamao Tamamura travels to Kyoto herself. She destroys Yohkyo's home with Dai Tengu, defeats Giong and forces him to disclose the forces influencing the branch family. Yohkyo agrees to a temporary truce and subsequently sends Luca and Yohane to schools in Funbari Hill.

The Super Star reveals that Yohkyo had received pieces of Fra YVS's power through Yohsuke. Thorim eventually tracks him down and takes one piece back. Yohkyo later obtains Luca's YVS Meidum, unaware that it enables Yohsuke's side to continue monitoring him. He is subsequently killed in his jail cell by Hebishima Yumeji, who retrieves YVS Meidum and makes the death appear to be suicide.

Luca Asakura is Yohkyo's daughter. He raises her in isolation and places the expectations of the Kyoto branch upon her, including responsibility for protecting her younger brother.

Yohane Asakura is Yohkyo's son and the branch-family heir he sends against Hana.

Hana Asakura is the main-family successor whom Yohkyo views as an obstacle to the Kyoto branch's ambitions.

Tamao Tamamura personally confronts and overwhelms Yohkyo, forcing him to accept a temporary truce.

Yohsuke Kamogawa provides Yohkyo with fragments of Fra YVS's power and exploits the branch family's resentment toward the main Asakura line.

Fra YVS is the source of the supernatural power Yohkyo receives through Yohsuke.

Giong is Yohkyo's inherited Guardian Ghost.

Thorim tracks Yohkyo down and reclaims one of the fragments of YVS's power.

Hebishima Yumeji later retrieves YVS Meidum from Yohkyo by killing him in his cell.
