Yohsuke Kamogawa

Yohsuke is confident, arrogant and openly dismissive of the idea that strength must be earned through training. To him, money is power in its most practical form: if an ability can be purchased, struggling to develop it naturally is pointless. This philosophy shapes both his supernatural techniques and his role within Team YVS.

His confidence grew from a far more vulnerable childhood. Yohsuke once had extremely low self-esteem and believed his only meaningful interest was the trading-card game God-Hand Q. After losing early in its world championship, he became severely disillusioned with his life. His meeting with YVS exploits that despair and redirects it into a belief that wealth can purchase solutions to virtually any problem.

As Yohsuke's activities expand, he displays increasingly ruthless behavior and little hesitation about killing people who obstruct Team YVS. His worldview is heavily shaped by YVS's manipulation of him when he was emotionally vulnerable.

Yohsuke does not possess natural shamanic abilities. His ability to perceive and manipulate supernatural phenomena originally comes from the robot YVS, which sells him single-use YVS Cards in exchange for money. These cards can produce effects ranging from supernatural perception to extraordinary manipulation of space and time.

The system is fundamentally transactional. Individual cards can cost anything from hundreds of yen to astronomical sums, and each card is expended when activated. Yohsuke's ability to use the system effectively depends on his immense wealth and his talent for using purchased abilities to generate still more money.

Among the cards' demonstrated effects are seeing spirits, altering a user's apparent age, temporal displacement and stopping time. This gives Yohsuke options that conventional shamans cannot easily anticipate.

Fra YVS ultimately intends Yohsuke to be fused with Lucifer, the Devil King and former chief angel, with Lucifer becoming the dominant personality. The ritual intended to accomplish this becomes a major element of Team YVS's later operations.

As a child, Yohsuke encounters YVS after losing in the God-Hand Q World Championship. The robot offers him a time-manipulating card for ¥500, demonstrating that its products can literally rewrite his circumstances. Their contract becomes the foundation of his later power and wealth.

He emerges in Flowers as the central human commander of Team YVS and an opponent of Team Hao. His actions extend far beyond direct battles; Yohsuke uses money, agents and YVS Cards to shape events before his opponents understand that he is involved.

Yohsuke and his allies are responsible for the destruction of Patch Village, deliberately leaving Alumi Numbirch as the surviving Patch. When Hana attacks him there, Yohsuke freezes time, but Hana manages to awaken and kill him before Dong Dehon recovers his body. Yohsuke subsequently returns.

He is also directly responsible for Jeanne's death. When Niaes Varge hesitates to kill her, Yohsuke stops time and fires the fatal shot himself, then arranges for Niaes to believe that she pulled the trigger. His later activities center on Team YVS's preparations for the Flower of Maize and the restoration of Lucifer.

Fra YVS is the former Shaman King represented by Yohsuke's faction. Yohsuke functions as the general of Team YVS and advances YVS's agenda against Hao.

YVS is the pyramid-shaped robot that approaches Yohsuke as a vulnerable child and sells him supernatural cards. Their relationship turns money into Yohsuke's principal means of acquiring power.

Hana Asakura becomes one of Yohsuke's central opponents. Yohsuke also recognizes similarities between Hana's anger and his own alienation.

Alumi Numbirch opposes Yohsuke as a key member of Team Hao. She is deliberately left as the surviving Patch after Yohsuke's assault on Patch Village.

Black Maiden serves as Yohsuke's Helper on Team YVS for part of the conflict. He manipulates her memories surrounding Jeanne's death.

Tao Jeanne is killed by Yohsuke when Black Maiden cannot bring herself to fire the fatal shot.

Yohkyo Asakura receives pieces of Fra YVS's power through Yohsuke, allowing Team YVS to exploit the Kyoto Asakura branch's feud.

Lucifer is the powerful spirit Fra YVS intends to fuse with Yohsuke.
