Yohane Asakura

Yohane initially carries the pride and resentment instilled in him by the branch Asakura family. He believes his lineage is purer than that of the main house and has been raised to view defeating its heir as his purpose. His formal speech, dramatic battle attire and sheltered worldview make him appear more intimidating than his actual social experience would suggest.

Away from that conditioning, Yohane is shy, awkward and remarkably inexperienced with ordinary life. He spent his childhood isolated in the Kyoto mountains with virtually no friends or exposure to modern society. Once hostility between the branches begins to ease, this gentler side becomes increasingly visible.

Yohane possesses unusually high Furyoku despite having a physically weak and fragile body. He is particularly fast in battle and can perform Soul Integration rapidly, allowing him to make effective use of Oboro Daikyoh's swordsmanship even though his own body is poorly suited to prolonged physical combat.

Oboro Daikyoh is a rōnin spirit. Yohane uses his umbrella as the medium for O.S. Tsukuyomi, an Over Soul that Amidamaru considers comparable in strength to Yoh's Spirit of Sword. He can also use a variation of the Shamanic Oracle to read the flow of Furyoku and improve his ability to evade attacks.

Yohane later learns the Cloud technique, allowing him to produce a spiritual copy of Hao.

Yohane and his older sister Luca Asakura are raised by their father in the mountains outside Kyoto. Their upbringing is built around the branch family's belief that Hao's ascension creates an opportunity to replace the main Asakura line. Yohane consequently arrives in Funbari Hill intending to challenge Hana.

His first duel with Hana demonstrates the contrast between them: Yohane has formal training and considerable speed, while Hana possesses exceptional combat instincts and raw power. Yohane is defeated and suffers a broken arm. He later joins Luca in another attack, but Alumi Numbirch intervenes.

After Tamao forces the branch family into a truce, Yohane begins attending school with Hana and gradually becomes his friend rather than his assassin. He later becomes one of Team Hao's captains for the Flower of Maize.

Hana Asakura begins as the main-family heir Yohane has been raised to eliminate. After the branches establish a truce, Yohane's hostility gives way to friendship and the two become teammates.

Luca Asakura is Yohane's older sister and protector. She is deeply attached to him and reacts fiercely when he is injured.

Asakura Yohkyo is Yohane's father, who isolates and trains his children in service of the Kyoto branch family's ambitions.

Oboro Daikyoh is Yohane's Guardian Ghost and combat partner.

Alumi Numbirch becomes Yohane's teammate and one of the central organizers of Team Hao.

Hao Asakura is Yohane's ancestor and the god represented by Team Hao in the Flower of Maize.
