The Promised Neverland

Norman

ノーマン

Story Role

Norman accompanies Emma when she returns Conny's forgotten toy to the gate. The two discover Conny's body and learn that the children of Grace Field are being raised as food. Norman immediately begins constructing an escape plan, balancing Emma's insistence on rescuing everyone against the logistical problems posed by dozens of young children.

He soon realizes that someone among the children is leaking information to Isabella. By planting different pieces of false information, Norman identifies Ray as Isabella's spy and turns Ray's double role to the escape group's advantage. When Isabella unexpectedly schedules Norman for shipment, he outwardly accepts the decision while gathering vital information about the wall and leaving his friends with plans they can still execute without him.

Norman is not killed after leaving Grace Field. He is transferred to Lambda 7214, an experimental facility designed to produce unusually advanced human livestock. There he meets other test subjects and eventually escapes with help connected to Smee. Using the identity William Minerva, Norman builds a refuge at the former Paradise Hideout and organizes escaped children into a militant resistance.

His experiences at Lambda transform his solution to the farm problem. Norman concludes that demons must be exterminated and develops a drug capable of forcing them to degenerate. He begins destroying demon settlements and prepares to overthrow the royal capital, putting him in direct ideological conflict with Emma.

Emma and Ray eventually persuade Norman to abandon genocide after confronting both his assumptions and the fear driving his choices. Norman joins them in pursuing a new Promise and helps lead the final campaign against the farm system. He reaches the Human World with the other children and later participates in the search for Emma after the Promise separates her from them.
