Krone

Krone is ambitious, intense and openly competitive beneath the pleasant demeanor expected of a Sister. She desperately wants to become a Mama because advancement within Grace Field offers one of the few ways available to prolong her own life.

She is perceptive enough to realize that several children are planning something and attempts to turn their secret into leverage against Isabella. Her approach is far less subtle than Isabella's, relying on intimidation, direct bargains and displays of physical superiority.

Krone nevertheless understands the cruelty of the system in which she lives. Her struggle against Isabella is partly selfish, but it also reflects the brutal competition imposed on women trained as caretakers.

Krone has no supernatural abilities, but she is extremely athletic. During games of tag she demonstrates speed, stamina and coordination sufficient to pressure even Grace Field's most capable children.

She is also intelligent and observant. Krone quickly identifies several children involved in the escape plot and understands that Isabella is concealing serious problems from headquarters.

Her knowledge of Grace Field's caretaker system gives her information the children cannot obtain themselves. She uses this to negotiate with them when their interests temporarily overlap.

Krone is sent to Plant 3 after Isabella requests assistance. She quickly realizes that an escape plot exists and begins gathering evidence that could remove Isabella and open the Mama position for herself.

Rather than immediately exposing the children, she offers Emma and Norman a temporary alliance. Both sides understand that the arrangement is opportunistic: Krone wants Isabella removed, while the children want information about the plantation.

Isabella ultimately reports Krone to Sarah before Krone can displace her. Sarah informs Krone that she has been selected for shipment, and a demon kills her outside the plantation. Before leaving, Krone hides William Minerva's pen for Norman, giving the children a resource that later becomes crucial to their survival.

Isabella is Krone's superior and rival. Krone wants to expose her failure and take her position as Mama.

Emma becomes a temporary bargaining partner when Krone offers information about Grace Field in exchange for help undermining Isabella.

Norman likewise negotiates with Krone and later receives the Minerva pen she deliberately leaves behind.

Ray is one of the children Krone identifies as central to the secret struggle inside Plant 3.

Sarah controls Krone's advancement within the caretaker hierarchy. Sarah ultimately sides with Isabella and sends Krone to her death.

Cecile was Krone's childhood friend and later fellow caretaker trainee. Their relationship collapsed when Cecile betrayed their escape plan, after which Krone turned Cecile's own evidence against her.
