Kyosuke Kazato

Kazato presents himself as calm, courteous, patient, and attentive to Ran's psychological condition. He explains her symptoms in accessible terms and cautions her family against forcing memories to return.

His medical demeanor inspires trust at a time when Ran is especially vulnerable. He appears composed even as the police investigation surrounding her becomes increasingly dangerous.

That reassuring personality conceals a calculating and violent side capable of maintaining a professional façade while repeatedly attempting to eliminate witnesses.

Kazato is a trained psychiatrist with extensive medical knowledge. He can diagnose Ran's retrograde amnesia, explain its psychological causes, and assess how additional trauma might affect her recovery.

He originally trained and worked as a surgeon. After an injury damaged the precision of his hands, he changed specialties and became a psychiatrist. His surgical background gives him considerable anatomical and medical knowledge.

He is also left-handed, a physical detail that becomes important when Conan reconstructs the attacks.

Kazato becomes Ran's psychiatrist after she witnesses Satou being shot and develops amnesia from the shock. His position gives him regular access to Ran while Conan investigates why police officers are being targeted.

The earlier death of surgeon Tamotsu Jinno gradually becomes central to Conan's deductions. Kazato is revealed to have murdered Jinno after the intoxicated surgeon damaged Kazato's hands with a scalpel during an operation, destroying Kazato's surgical career.

Kazato then murders Narasawa and Shiba and shoots Satou because they had investigated Jinno's death. After realizing Ran saw his face during Satou's shooting, he repeatedly attempts to kill her. Conan finally exposes and defeats him at Tropical Land.

Tamotsu Jinno [was Kazato's surgical colleague. After Tamotsu Jinno damaged Kazato's hands during an operation, Kazato murdered him in revenge.](#spoiler)

Miwako Satou is shot by Kazato because of her involvement in the Jinno investigation.

Osamu Narasawa and Youichiro Shiba are murdered by Kazato to prevent the old investigation from exposing him.

Conan Edogawa identifies Kazato as the killer, reconstructs his motive, and confronts him during the final pursuit at Tropical Land.

Ninzaburo Shiratori knows Kazato as the Shiratori family's physician.
