Komui Lee

Komui is eccentric, playful and chronically willing to avoid mundane work. His inventions frequently create more problems than they solve, and Reever Wenhamm often has to drag him back to his actual responsibilities.

The frivolity disappears quickly during genuine emergencies. Komui is an intelligent administrator who understands the Black Order's science, military structure and politics, and he can make difficult decisions when headquarters is under attack.

His defining personal attachment is Lenalee Lee. Komui's exaggerated hostility toward any potential romantic interest is played for comedy, but the underlying protectiveness comes from years in which Lenalee was forcibly separated from him and treated as an asset by the Order.

Komui is not an Exorcist and cannot use Innocence. His principal abilities are scientific, administrative and technical. As Chief Officer, he coordinates missions and oversees the European Branch's personnel.

He is an accomplished inventor, although his experimental machines are notoriously unpredictable. Komlin, a series of robots created by Komui, repeatedly causes chaos around headquarters.

More seriously, Komui possesses extensive knowledge concerning Innocence, Akuma and the Order's research. His position also requires him to assess Exorcist synchronization and determine how limited resources should be deployed.

Komui welcomes Allen Walker into the Black Order after the young Exorcist reaches headquarters with Timcanpy. He assigns missions, explains aspects of Innocence and becomes one of the principal authority figures surrounding Allen's generation.

His own reason for joining predates Allen. After the Order forcibly takes Lenalee Lee as a child Accommodator, Komui enters the organization and rises through its scientific ranks so that his sister will have family beside her.

As Central becomes increasingly involved in headquarters, Komui finds his authority challenged by Malcolm C. Rouvelier. Their conflict becomes especially serious when Central treats Allen as a potential Noah and supports experiments that Komui considers dangerous to the people entrusted to him.

Lenalee Lee is Komui's younger sister and the most important person in his life. He joins the Black Order after she is forcibly separated from him and remains obsessively protective of her.

Reever Wenhamm is Komui's principal subordinate in the Science Section. Reever complains constantly about Komui's behavior but is also one of his most dependable colleagues.

Allen Walker enters the Order under Komui's supervision. Komui treats him as one of the young Exorcists in his care rather than merely a weapon.

Malcolm C. Rouvelier represents Central's authority and repeatedly clashes with Komui over the treatment of Exorcists and the acceptable cost of winning the war.

Johnny Gill works within the Science Section under Komui and becomes part of the close-knit headquarters staff.
