Lenalee Lee

Lenalee is compassionate, attentive and strongly oriented toward the people around her. She readily welcomes Allen Walker into the Order and often provides emotional support to Exorcists and staff members alike. Her kindness does not prevent her from becoming forceful when friends behave recklessly.

Her attachment to the Black Order is complicated. The institution forcibly took her from Komui Lee after discovering that she was an Accommodator, and her early years at headquarters were traumatic. Komui's decision to join the Order so that he could remain with her transformed the headquarters into something closer to a home, but Lenalee never forgets what the institution did to her.

She defines the world she wants to save through individual relationships rather than geography or ideology. When someone within that circle is endangered, Lenalee can become desperate enough to ignore her own safety.

Lenalee's Innocence is the Dark Boots, initially an equipment-type Anti-Akuma weapon worn on her legs. When invoked, the boots dramatically increase her speed, jumping ability and striking power. She can run across difficult surfaces, change direction in midair and deliver kicks capable of destroying powerful Akuma.

Her techniques exploit acceleration and atmospheric movement. At high synchronization, the Dark Boots allow extraordinary aerial mobility and can drive Lenalee beyond the limits her human body would normally tolerate.

After her battle with a Level 3 Akuma, the Dark Boots behave unusually instead of simply disappearing with their apparent destruction. The Innocence later responds to Lenalee's blood and reforms as a crystal-type weapon, making her one of the first known Crystal-type Accommodators. In this state, the Innocence is generated directly from her blood and forms new Dark Boots around her legs.

Lenalee is already an experienced Exorcist when Allen Walker reaches Black Order headquarters. She helps introduce him to the organization and soon joins him on missions, becoming one of the central members of the group searching for Innocence and opposing the Millennium Earl.

Her past explains why she treats the Order's personnel as family rather than simply colleagues. After losing her parents and being forcibly brought to headquarters, she spent years desperate to return to Komui Lee. His eventual arrival gives her a reason to build a life inside the institution that had once felt like a prison.

During the journey toward Japan, Lenalee repeatedly pushes the Dark Boots beyond their normal limits. Her battle against Eshi ends with her choosing to risk everything to protect her companions. The Dark Boots subsequently enter an unprecedented state and later evolve into Crystal-type Innocence.

Later developments place Lenalee among the Exorcists caught between loyalty to their friends and the Central Agency's increasingly severe treatment of Allen. Although she remains part of the Order, her concern for Allen does not disappear when his position within the organization deteriorates.

Komui Lee is Lenalee's older brother and closest family member. Being forcibly separated from him as a child traumatizes her, and Komui eventually joins the Black Order specifically so they can be together again. His exaggerated protectiveness often becomes comic, but their attachment is sincere.

Allen Walker quickly becomes one of Lenalee's closest friends. She worries about his tendency to sacrifice himself and repeatedly tries to keep him from carrying every burden alone. Her concern remains even after Allen's relationship with the Black Order becomes increasingly hostile.

Lavi is a close friend and frequent mission companion. Their easy familiarity contrasts with the emotional detachment Lavi is expected to maintain as a Bookman apprentice.

Yu Kanda has known Lenalee since before Allen joined the Order. She understands his difficult temperament better than many of their colleagues and treats him as part of the personal "world" she wants to protect.

Miranda Lotto first meets Lenalee during the Rewinding Town incident. Lenalee's acceptance helps Miranda move beyond years of isolation and eventually join the Black Order as an Exorcist.
