Aoi Toudou

Toudou is loud, confrontational, eccentric, and intensely confident. His signature question about romantic preferences functions as an improvised personality test: he believes a person's answer reveals whether they approach life with sufficient passion.

His own ideal is tall women with large backsides, represented above all by idol Takada-chan. Toudou imagines elaborate conversations and scenarios involving Takada, sometimes compressing extended internal deliberation into a fraction of a second during battle.

His ridiculous behavior coexists with high intelligence. Toudou can deduce an opponent's technique from minimal information, coordinate with unfamiliar partners almost instantly, and deliberately deceive enemies about the activation conditions of his own ability.

He is also an effective teacher when someone earns his respect. His instruction to Yuuji about cursed-energy timing produces one of the most important early jumps in Yuuji's combat ability.

Toudou values confidence, self-knowledge, and growth. Once he decides Yuuji shares his taste in women, he spontaneously constructs an imaginary history in which the two attended middle school together and begins calling him his brother.

Toudou possesses enormous physical strength even without his cursed technique. He defeated multiple Grade 1 curses and a special-grade curse during Getou's Night Parade using mostly raw combat ability.

His cursed-energy reinforcement, speed, durability, and hand-to-hand technique place him comfortably within Grade 1. He can fight special-grade cursed spirits directly while simultaneously managing a more complicated tactical role.

Boogie Woogie allows Toudou to swap the positions of two targets possessing sufficient cursed energy by clapping his hands. He can exchange himself with another person, swap two other targets, or use cursed objects and energy-bearing entities as anchors.

The technique's strength lies less in raw destructive output than in the confusion it creates. Toudou can change attack angles after an opponent commits to defense, move allies away from lethal attacks, place enemies in front of their own techniques, and condition opponents to react to claps that do not actually trigger a swap.

During the fight against Hanami, Toudou combines Boogie Woogie with Yuuji's close-range offense, producing coordination so rapid that Hanami struggles to determine where attacks will originate.

After losing a hand in Shibuya, Toudou initially considers Boogie Woogie functionally dead. Later manga material reveals that he reconstructs the technique's activation by replacing the clap requirement with a vibraslap, allowing vastly more swaps within a short interval.

Toudou first appears before the Kyoto Goodwill Event, where he assaults Megumi after finding his answer to the preference question boring.

When he asks Yuuji the same question and receives an answer almost identical to his own preference, Toudou instantly declares Yuuji his best friend and invents memories of an adolescence they never shared.

During the Goodwill Event, the Kyoto students are initially ordered to kill Yuuji. Toudou refuses to participate in a simple group execution and insists on fighting Yuuji personally.

Instead of killing him, Toudou begins teaching Yuuji how to correct the delay between his physical movements and cursed-energy output. His advice helps Yuuji achieve Black Flash repeatedly.

When Hanami attacks the event, Toudou joins Yuuji in one of the series' clearest demonstrations of coordinated two-person combat. Boogie Woogie turns Yuuji's already formidable close-range attacks into an unpredictable assault pattern.

Toudou later arrives in Shibuya after Yuuji has been psychologically devastated by Mahito's actions. His intervention restores Yuuji's ability to continue fighting.

Mahito's Domain forces Toudou to sever one of his own hands to prevent Idle Transfiguration from spreading. He then loses further use of Boogie Woogie after touching Mahito's hand directly, but still creates the deception that allows Yuuji to land the decisive attack.

Toudou returns late in the manga with a modified Boogie Woogie and joins Yuuji against Sukuna, using extraordinarily rapid position swaps to rescue allies and disrupt Sukuna's attacks.

Yuuji Itadori becomes Toudou's self-proclaimed brother after giving the preferred answer to his question about women. Toudou also becomes one of Yuuji's most important combat mentors.

Yuki Tsukumo meets Toudou when he is a child and becomes the mentor who introduces him to jujutsu.

Takada-chan is Toudou's favorite idol and the object of his intense fandom and imagined conversations.

Megumi Fushiguro makes a poor first impression on Toudou after giving an answer about personality rather than physical preference.

Mai Zenin, Kasumi Miwa, Momo Nishimiya, Noritoshi Kamo, and Kokichi Muta are Toudou's Kyoto classmates.

Hanami becomes Toudou and Yuuji's principal opponent during the Goodwill Event.

Mahito becomes the opponent responsible for Toudou losing the hand required for the original activation of Boogie Woogie.
