Personality
Personality
Jumanuel is fiercely loyal to the Kitou Family and readily follows Naki's orders. His limited individual dialogue leaves much of his characterization tied to the collective personality of the clan.
He is violent toward perceived intruders and shows no meaningful objection to the family's treatment of sacrificial victims. Generations of isolation have made the Kitous regard their practices as legitimate necessities rather than crimes.
Jumanuel also demonstrates persistence. Defeat does not easily end the family's hostility toward Momo, and he continues supporting the clan when it reenters the protagonists' lives.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
As a Subterranean, Jumanuel belongs to a hidden nonhuman race classified among the series' UMA. He disguises himself sufficiently well to participate in human society as a landlord.
Jumanuel is a capable hand-to-hand combatant with significant physical strength. He fights directly rather than relying on a unique psychic or spiritual technique.
His combat effectiveness increases when working with his brothers. The Kitous coordinate their attacks and overwhelm targets through numbers, strength, and relentless close-range pressure.
Story Role
Story Role
Jumanuel appears during the investigation of Jiji's cursed home. He and the other Kitous initially watch the visitors before escalating to direct violence when their secrets are threatened.
He joins the confrontation at the house and helps force the protagonists toward the underground area associated with the family's supposed deity.
Momo and her companions discover that the Kitous are Subterraneans and that their revered Tsuchinoko is actually the giant Mongolian Death Worm. The family's generations of sacrifice were intended to satisfy the creature and prevent the consequences they associated with its hunger.
Jumanuel later escapes custody with other members of his family and participates in their renewed pursuit of Momo during the Typhoon Human Arc. The confrontation ultimately forces the Kitous into circumstances where survival temporarily becomes more important than their feud.
