Habuko Mongoose

Habuko is shy, insecure, loyal, and much kinder than her intimidating snake-like appearance initially suggests.

Before befriending Tsuyu, she interprets her own loneliness as evidence that she must be an unpleasant person. Her difficulty approaching others leads her to follow Tsuyu from a distance rather than simply speaking to her.

Tsuyu recognizes the similarity between them: both possess conspicuous animal-type mutations and have difficulty forming friendships. When Tsuyu finally asks Habuko to be her friend, the gesture helps both girls become more socially confident.

Habuko remains shy when meeting Class 1-A, initially hiding behind Kashiko Sekigai, but becomes openly affectionate the moment she sees Tsuyu again.

Enfeeble activates when Habuko makes eye contact with a target.

The victim's muscles become limp for approximately three seconds, causing temporary paralysis without unconsciousness. Multiple targets can be affected simultaneously if they are all making eye contact with her.

The short duration makes timing critical. Habuko must create an opening during those few seconds or coordinate with teammates capable of exploiting the paralysis.

Because activation relies on eye contact, opponents who understand the Quirk can attempt to avoid looking directly at her.

Habuko is introduced through a bonus chapter covering Tsuyu's earlier school life and is expanded substantially in the Training of the Dead OVA.

She attends Isami Academy after graduating from the middle school she shared with Tsuyu and proudly tells her old friend that she has managed to make new friends.

During the Survival Training exercise, Habuko joins the Isami team against Class 1-A and uses Enfeeble to immobilize several U.A. students.

Romero Fujimi's Zombie Virus subsequently causes the exercise to collapse into chaos.

Even while zombified, Habuko recognizes Tsuyu and does not immediately attack her, emphasizing the strength of their friendship.

Tsuyu Asui is Habuko's first close friend and the person whose kindness helps her overcome severe loneliness.

Kashiko Sekigai, Romero Fujimi, and Dadan Tadan are Habuko's classmates at Isami Academy.

Ochaco Uraraka, Mina Ashido, and Tooru Hagakure meet Habuko through Tsuyu during the joint training event.
