Eshi

Eshi is theatrical, cruel and completely devoted to the purpose imposed on Akuma. He claims to have been an artist before becoming an Akuma and retains an aesthetic fixation on arranging scenes before naming them like works of art.

He regards killing as necessary for evolution and shows no hesitation about attacking civilians or Exorcists. His intelligence distinguishes him sharply from the mechanical behavior associated with early Level 1 Akuma.

As a Level 3 Akuma, Eshi possesses vastly greater strength, durability and intelligence than lower evolutionary stages. He can fly and attack at ranges that make conventional engagement extremely difficult.

His principal ability manipulates gravity through Dark Matter. He can mark targets and subject them to immense gravitational forces, dragging or crushing objects and people across the battlefield.

Eshi also creates destructive energy attacks and can survive punishment that would destroy weaker Akuma. His power forces Lenalee Lee to push the Dark Boots far beyond their ordinary limits.

Eshi intercepts the ship carrying Lenalee Lee, Allen Walker, Lavi, Bookman, Arystar Krory III and Miranda Lotto toward Japan.

His appearance reveals Level 3 Akuma as a new class of threat. The Exorcists' existing experience against Levels 1 and 2 offers little preparation for his durability and gravity-based attacks.

Lenalee engages him directly to protect the ship. She forces the Dark Boots to synchronize at an extreme level and destroys Eshi, but the strain leaves her unable to invoke the weapon normally afterward and becomes an important turning point in her relationship with Innocence.

Lenalee Lee is Eshi's principal opponent at sea. Their battle pushes Lenalee's Dark Boots to a dangerous synchronization level before she succeeds in destroying him.

The Millennium Earl is the creator and master of the Akuma forces to which Eshi belongs.
