Erica

Erica is cheerful, caring and remarkably resilient. She speaks openly to Guts despite his intimidating appearance and treats wounded or traumatized people with uncomplicated kindness.

She is strongly attached to Godot and Rickert. Her family is formed through circumstance rather than blood, yet she treats those bonds as entirely natural.

Erica can also be stubborn and courageous. Although she lacks combat training, danger does not prevent her from trying to help injured companions or remain beside people she cares about.

Erica has no supernatural abilities and is not an experienced fighter. Her practical skills come from living with Godot and assisting around his forge and mountain home.

She becomes familiar with blacksmithing work through Godot and Rickert, although Rickert is the more accomplished smith and inventor. Erica is also accustomed to caring for the household and helping injured visitors.

Her endurance is notable for an ordinary civilian. She survives repeated encounters with war and supernatural danger despite having none of the extraordinary protections available to Guts's companions.

Erica lives with Godot when Guts arrives at the blacksmith's home after the Eclipse. She becomes part of the small household that shelters Casca while Guts struggles with what to do next.

When Guts returns years later, Erica is still living with Godot and Rickert. Godot's death leaves Erica and Rickert as the principal inhabitants of the mountain home, while Guts resumes traveling with Casca.

After Griffith's new Band of the Hawk appears near the mountain, the area is destroyed during the confrontation involving Zodd. Erica subsequently travels with Rickert to Falconia. There, she becomes caught in Rakshas's attack after Rickert rejects Griffith.

Silat, the Tapasa and Daiba help Erica and Rickert escape Falconia, and she leaves the city with them.

Godot is Erica's adoptive father and the man who raises her after finding her orphaned.

Rickert becomes Erica's closest companion and effectively her family after settling at Godot's forge.

Guts is a recurring visitor to Erica's home. She treats him warmly despite his harsh demeanor.

Casca lives at Godot's home for a period, with Erica helping care for her.

Silat and Daiba become allies to Erica and Rickert during their escape from Falconia.

Rakshas attacks Rickert and those around him in Falconia, placing Erica in direct danger.
