Sasuke uses the heat from his fire techniques to create storm clouds and attacks Itachi with Kirin. Itachi survives by manifesting Susanoo, whose shield blocks attacks while its sealing sword removes Orochimaru from Sasuke’s body.

Exhausted and gravely ill, Itachi approaches Sasuke, taps his forehead, and dies. Tobi retrieves Sasuke and later reveals that Itachi massacred the Uchiha under orders from Konoha’s leadership. The clan had been preparing a coup, and Itachi accepted the mission to prevent civil war while secretly arranging to spare Sasuke.

Tobi explains the conflict between the Senju and Uchiha, Konoha’s founding, and the growing isolation of the Uchiha clan. Learning that Itachi sacrificed his reputation and life for him, Sasuke redirects his hatred toward Konoha and vows to destroy the village.
