Jiraiya’s battle against Pain reaches its tragic conclusion as the Akatsuki leader reveals the full extent of his Six Paths technique. Surrounded by multiple bodies that share their vision and possess different abilities, Jiraiya risks everything to uncover the secret behind his former student.
Elsewhere, Sasuke Uchiha finally meets Itachi Uchiha at an abandoned Uchiha stronghold. While Tobi prevents Konoha’s pursuit team from interfering, the brothers begin the confrontation that Sasuke has pursued for most of his life.
Jiraiya discovers that Pain’s six bodies are shinobi he encountered during his travels. Realizing that none is the original Pain, he captures one body and sends a coded message to Konoha before being overwhelmed. Mortally wounded, Jiraiya reflects on his failures and entrusts the future to Naruto before sinking beneath the waters of Amegakure.
Sasuke enters the Uchiha hideout and confronts Itachi. Their battle begins with layers of genjutsu before shifting into physical combat. Itachi reveals that the Mangekyō Sharingan gradually causes blindness and claims he intends to take Sasuke’s eyes to obtain eternal sight.
Itachi traps Sasuke in Tsukuyomi and attacks with Amaterasu, but Sasuke survives both techniques. Having forced Itachi to expend much of his chakra, Sasuke prepares the final stage of his plan.
